To pass a spreadsheet to an adviser, an expert witness or a supplier you hardly ever need to send the names. This tool reads the Excel or CSV file, proposes the columns holding people's data (names, ID numbers, emails, phones) and replaces them. You can empty them, mask them or swap them for a stable pseudonym, which is the most useful: the same employee always comes out as «Name 7», so rows can still be cross-referenced without knowing whose they are.
The rest of the sheet is untouched: the amounts, the dates and the formulas stay where they were, and an .xlsx comes out as an .xlsx, not as a CSV you then have to fix. The file is opened and written again in your browser, without going through any spreadsheet in the cloud.
FAQ
What is a stable pseudonym?
It means each distinct value always gets the same label within the file. So you can keep analysing per person without knowing who each one is.
Can it be reversed?
Not from the file you take away: it carries no lookup table. Keep the original yourself if you are going to need it.
Does it respect the Excel format?
Yes. Only the cells in the chosen columns are rewritten and the rest of the workbook is copied as is, with its sheets, its numbers and its formulas.
